Lester A. Booker Jr. was named Corporate Giving Communications Lead in April 2018. His responsibilities include creating a cadence of authentic and credible storytelling crucial to establishing meaningful connections with core audiences to drive reputation through General Motors’ global grant making and employee volunteerism initiatives (teamGM Cares). In this role, he is also responsible for managing General Motors legacy partnerships and storytelling campaigns across all brands (Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac) to increase awareness, while generating earned media coverage to reach multicultural audiences.
Booker joined the General Motors family in 2014. Beginning as an agency partner, he managed brand partnerships and experiential marketing engagements for Buick and lead company-wide Diversity Communications initiatives.
Recently, Booker was named one of the 2018 Michigan Chronicle 40 Under 40 honorees. This award recognizes African Americans who are positively impacting all sectors of Greater Detroit through vision, exceptional leadership and participation in community service.
A Detroit native, Booker holds a Master of Science in Administration degree, with a sports concentration and a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in broadcast and cinematic arts both from Central Michigan University.
